Patient-Centered Care

Healthcare providers within the CanMex Health Network are committed to delivering patient-centered care that prioritizes the individual needs, preferences, and values of each patient. This includes fostering open communication, respecting patient autonomy, and involving patients in decision-making regarding their healthcare.

Clinical Competence

 All healthcare providers are expected to demonstrate clinical competence in their respective areas of practice. This entails maintaining current knowledge and skills, adhering to evidence-based practice guidelines, and seeking appropriate consultation or referral when necessary.

Ethical Conduct

Healthcare providers are required to uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct in all professional interactions and decision-making processes. This includes maintaining patient confidentiality, avoiding conflicts of interest, and adhering to professional codes of ethics and regulatory requirements. 

Safety and Quality

The safety and quality of patient care are paramount within the CanMex Health Network. Healthcare providers are responsible for promoting a culture of safety, identifying and mitigating risks, and continuously monitoring and evaluating the quality of care provided to patients. 

Collaboration and Communication

Effective collaboration and communication among healthcare providers are essential for optimizing patient outcomes and ensuring continuity of care. Healthcare providers within the CanMex Health Network are expected to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, communicate effectively with patients and colleagues, and participate in care coordination efforts. 

Professional Development

Continuous professional development is integral to maintaining and enhancing the competence and proficiency of healthcare providers within the CanMex Health Network. Healthcare providers are encouraged to engage in ongoing education, training, and professional development activities to stay abreast of advancements in their field and improve patient care.

Accountability and Transparency

Healthcare providers are accountable for their actions and decisions, and are expected to be transparent in their interactions with patients, colleagues, and stakeholders. This includes taking responsibility for errors or adverse events, addressing patient concerns or complaints in a timely and respectful manner, and participating in quality improvement initiatives. 

Cultural Competence and Diversity

Recognizing the diverse backgrounds, beliefs, and identities of patients, healthcare providers within the CanMex Health Network are committed to providing culturally competent care that respects and values the individuality of each patient. This includes being sensitive to cultural differences, addressing language barriers, and promoting health equity and inclusivity in all aspects of care delivery.
